Linking your Bedrock and Java accounts

If you own both a Java and a Bedrock account, you can link them so both log into the same character. Without linking, each account is a separate player with a separate character, inventory and nation.

Why link

  • One character whichever device you play on
  • Your nation, family, homes and standing follow you
  • A single identity in the Council record

You only need this if you own both. Bedrock-only players just connect and play — there is nothing to link.

Linking, step by step

The direction matters. Java asks, Bedrock confirms. Doing it the other way round will not work.

1. On your Java account

Log in on Java and run:

/linkaccount <your Bedrock gamertag>

You are given a link code.

2. On your Bedrock account, within 5 minutes

Log in on Bedrock and run:

/linkaccount <your Java username> <code>

Note that this command needs both the other account's username and the code.

3. You will be disconnected

This is what success looks like. Floodgate kicks you the moment the link completes. Rejoin and you are on your linked character.

If it does not work

  • "This link request has expired" — codes last 5 minutes. Start again from step 1.
  • Told you are using it wrong — you have the direction backwards. Java runs it without a code; Bedrock runs it with one.
  • "Already linked" — one of the accounts is already linked to something. Run /unlinkaccount on it first.
  • "Linking is disabled" — tell staff in #support.

Unlinking

Run /unlinkaccount from either account. They become separate players again, each with their own character.

Think before you unlink. The two accounts stop sharing a character. Whatever the second account had before linking is what it goes back to.

Bedrock differences

  • Your username may appear with a prefix (commonly .) to keep it distinct from Java names
  • Chat-input prompts — used in character creation and some menus — open a Bedrock text box rather than the chat bar
  • Some inventory menus need a firmer tap; if a click does not register, tap again
