Your data

Privacy

Dirt.smp is run by the owner of Dirt.smp, who is responsible for this site, the Minecraft server and the data they hold. To ask about any of it, open a ticket in our Discord (a contact email will be listed here).

If you only read the site

No analytics, no advertising and no tracking scripts. Reading pages sets no cookies. The apply and sign-in pages set one session cookie, because signing in with Discord needs it. The only other record is the standard access log our web host keeps under its own policy.

What we keep, and why

Signing in with Discord
Your Discord ID, username and avatar, and which of our Discord roles you hold, so the site knows whether you are a member, a player or staff. One session cookie keeps you signed in, for at most twelve hours.
Applying to play
Your Discord ID and name, Minecraft username, timezone, your character's name and what you wrote about them. Your age and an email address are optional; the email is used only to tell you the decision if Discord can't reach you.
Your character page, logbook and wiki pages
What you write. Nothing is public until you publish it, and you can take your page down at any time. Wiki pages are read by staff before they go public.
Your last visit
When you last opened your player dashboard, so it can list what happened since. Only the time — not what you looked at.
Questions the help search couldn't answer
When /ask in Discord finds nothing, the question is kept so staff can add the answer to the handbook. Only the question and the date — not who asked.
Support tickets
The conversation, in a private Discord channel, and a transcript staff can refer back to.
How far people get when applying
A count per step per day. No names, accounts or addresses — it cannot tell anyone who applied.
Security log
Sign-ins and staff actions, with the IP address they came from, so misuse can be traced.
On the Minecraft server
What the game and its plugins need to run: your character, inventory, position and chat.

Who else sees it

  • Our staff, who need it to review applications, moderate and help you.
  • Discord, which runs sign-in and our Discord server.
  • Our web host, which stores the site.
  • mc-heads.net is asked for your skin by our server, never by your browser, and only if you choose to show your skin. It sees your Minecraft username, not you.

We don't sell data, and we don't share it with anyone for advertising.

How long we keep it

  • Applications that were turned down are deleted a year after the decision, along with the backup copy of them.
  • Approved applications are kept while you play, because they link your account to your character.
  • The security log keeps each entry for one year.
  • Your last visit is forgotten a year after it.
  • Unanswered help questions are deleted after 90 days.
  • Your character page exists until you take it down.
  • The record of the fallen is the world's history and is kept. It describes characters, never the player behind them, and staff will withhold an entry if you ask.

Your choices

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. To do so, open a ticket in our Discord (a contact email will be listed here). Deleting an approved application ends your character's link to your account, so it also ends your place on the server.

Children

We collect only what running the server needs, and age is optional. Applying requires a Discord account, and Discord has its own minimum age. Parents can find more on the page for parents, and can ask us to review or delete their child's data.
