The agreement

Terms

Dirt.smp is a Minecraft server and this website, run by the owner of Dirt.smp. By playing, joining our Discord or posting on this site, you agree to what follows. It is short on purpose.

The rules come first

The Ten Commandments apply in the game, in the Discord and on this site. Staff enforce them, and staff decisions are final — though you can always ask for one to be looked at again (see appeals).

Your place on the server

  • Playing needs an approved application and a Discord account. Being whitelisted is permission to play, not a right, and it can be withdrawn for breaking the rules.
  • You are responsible for what happens on your account. Don't share it.
  • Your Minecraft and Discord accounts stay subject to Mojang's, Microsoft's and Discord's own terms; nothing here overrides those.

Permanent death means permanent

Characters on Dirt.smp can die for good, as the codex explains. When that happens under the rules, it is the game working as intended. We don't restore characters, items, land or standing lost to a legacy death, and nobody can pay to avoid one.

A legacy death that broke the rules — the codex says what makes one lawful — will be reversed when you report it. Report deaths caused by bugs or crashes too; staff look at every one.

The world can change

The server is in beta. Systems are still being tuned, and the map will be reset once before full launch; what you build before then is explicitly at risk. After launch, we may still change rules, mechanics or the world itself, and will announce changes that matter before they happen where we can. The server can go down — the status page shows when it has.

What you post

  • Your character page, logbook, epitaphs and wiki pages stay yours. By publishing them here, you let us show them on this site and in our Discord, for as long as they are up.
  • Post only what you have the right to post, and nothing that breaks the rules — the site is read by players of all ages.
  • Staff may take down anything that breaks the rules, and you can take down your own page at any time. Wiki pages are reviewed before they go public.
  • The record of the fallen is the world's history. It describes characters, not players, and staff will withhold an entry if you ask.

Money

Dirt.smp sells nothing at the moment: no ranks, no items, no perks. In-game currency has no real-world value and can't be bought, sold or cashed out. If that ever changes, every price will be on this site before anyone can pay, and nothing sold will give an advantage over other players or protection from death.

Bans and appeals

A ban removes you from the game, the Discord and the player areas of this site. To appeal, open an appeal ticket in our Discord. If you are no longer in the Discord, an email address for appeals will be listed here. Say who you are and why the decision should change. As the rules say, bans for hacking, exploiting or cheating carry no appeal.

No guarantees

We run Dirt.smp in good faith and as well as we can, but we provide it as it is. We can't promise it will always be available, error-free or unchanged, and we aren't responsible for losses that come from playing — including the loss of a character, which is the point.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, the date below changes, and anything that affects you will be announced in the Discord. Questions about any of it: open a ticket in our Discord (a contact email will be listed here).
