Consoles

When it does not work

The featured server just loads normally

The DNS change has not taken effect.

  • Restart the console. All three cache DNS, the Switch worst of all. On Switch, close Minecraft from the Home menu rather than backing out of it.
  • Check you typed the address into primary, not secondary.
  • Try a different address from the list. The main instance is often blocked on consoles — this is the most common cause by a wide margin.

The port trap

The port must be 19132 for the console bypass to work.

This is not our requirement, it is how the workaround functions — the console is being convinced it is talking to a featured server, and featured servers live on that port. If you enter a different port, the menu may appear but the connection will not complete.

Our Bedrock port is on your dashboard. If it reads 19132, you have nothing to do.

"Unable to connect to world"

  • Confirm you are whitelisted. Approval has to land before any of this will work, and the failure looks identical to a network problem.
  • Check the address for typos. 1 and l, 0 and O.
  • Make sure you chose Connect to a Server in the menu, not a server someone else had saved.

Some featured servers refuse to be redirected

A few of them — The Hive is the usual example — use DNSSEC, which is designed to stop exactly this kind of redirect. It works on some consoles and not others.

Pick a different featured server from the list and join that one instead. Any of them will do; you are only using it as a door.

Nothing works at all

Post in #support with:

  • which console, and which model
  • which DNS address you tried
  • what you see at the point it fails

There is also a phone-based alternative — apps that share a server to your console over your local network — which avoids DNS entirely. Ask and we will walk you through it.

Putting it back

Set DNS Settings to Automatic on any console to undo all of this. Nothing else was changed.
